I've "Run" Thomas multiple times at a couple or three venues (both as Thomas' engineer, and on the diesel on the other end of the train that is the real power)..  IT IS a joy to see mothers and their kids at one of these events. Fun for all.

There is a handle at the "engineers control station" for control of the eyes.  People really like that.

There is also a control (and, a reservoir for the supply oil) for the smoke emission generator.  I've never seen black smoke as in the photo.. Wonder how he did that - I've always gotten a more white effect.*

*  If I found out, maybe it would be of benefit when running real steam.  D'ya think???  :-)

This one is a former BEDT 0-6-0,  converted in appearance, at Strasburg shops .
