Dave Seidel of the Camrail Club today reported these numbers to the volunteers who manned the exhibit car on the 4014 tour:
This last summer (April to November) you guys were part of the crew that handled the Union Pacific Experience Car/UP Museum excursion. Here are the numbers that were rung up on that tour:About 112,500 people were counted to have gone through the Experience Car on its stops across the UP system. Of that number it is figured that it only covers 1/3 of the people that attended with the other 2/3 either only seeing the #4014 and/or elected not to wait in line to go through the car. That number then is 337,500 people came to each of the tour stops. It is then figured that that number shows between 1/4 or 1/8 of the people that came to trackside to just watch the train go by; those numbers are - 1/4 = 1,350,000 to 1/8 = 2,700,000. A very good turnout by any standards.
