On the day before Thanksgiving in 1939, Guy L. Dunscomb caught this Western Pacific passenger train speeding across the desert near Aldridge, Nevada.  We can only assume that many of the passengers on board were headed home to celebrate Thanksgiving.

Laying it low, a really nice photo.

The Western Pacific is one railroad I associate much more with diesels than with steam locomotives.  That said, I very much appreciate you posting this wonderful image.  Thanks for sharing and Happy Thanksgiving.

Interesting there is a car ahead of the baggage car.  Wonder what the story is.

The slight focus blur and the similar slight tilt really adds to the sense of speed. Maybe the car ahead of the baggage is a private car or a company car that way it's blocked from the rest of the passengers.

I wouldn't think it's a private car. My money is on it's deadheading.
