Whistle question
Author: jcaestecker

I know very little about steam whistles but after watching the vid posted by californiarails yesterday featuring Fillmore and Western #14, I couldn't help but notice that it sounds very much like ATSF 3751.  Anyone know if they're the same type?

The video in a thread bellow sounds like an SP six chime. My guess as I've heard those before a bit.

Years ago there was a company that had advertized a recreation of one in rezin or plastic ( working model not for use under steam) I'm not sure it they are still avalable.

Last night I watched the movie “White Heat”, which I had not seen for some years. A great film from around 1950 with opening scenes on the SP starring 4-6-2 #2440 in passenger train service. Same chime whistle!
