Steam & Excursion > Southern 4501 rolling in Louisiana

(1) On the annual New Orleans-Hattiesburg 2 roundtrip weekend Southern excursion, 4501 is headed north to Hattiesburg.

(2) Coming in to Lumberton,Ms with 15 cars (13 heavyweight) as 4501 
rolls !

(3) Ex-NYC Imperial Emblem - 4 compartment, 2 drawing room, 4 dbl bedroom car (P-S 1940) brings up the rear.
The Southern steam excursions were a lot of fun. 
4501 is still operating today.

The car behind the locomotive is "Lookout Mountain," which after its Southern and NS excursion days landed, for a time, on the Mount Hood Scenic Railroad in Oregon. 

The last time I looked it was at the Rio Grande Scenic in Colorado, though given the bankruptcy of Iowa Pacific, who knows if it's still there or where it will end up?

Don't see many of my favorite fallen flag's cars around.  Do you know who owns the Imperial Emblem?

At the time of this trip the NRHS chapter in New Orleans owned it but don't know what happened to it since then.

Every photo is a winner.  Photo 1 & 2 are nice smoking action photos.  Photo 3 has the NYC pullman, depot and spectators.

That was a fun car to ride in. 
Observation, open windows.
Northbound against the engine. In Hattiesburg the 4501 would be turned but not the cars so the Lookout Mountain on the trip back would be the last car.

I don't.  Southern 2-8-2's are supposed to be black.
