Lance/199 Date: 12/06/19 08:25 Re: Another of 4014 near Speer WY Author: davew833 Nice! Reminds me of the October 1984 #3985 excursion that was unexpectedly snowy and produced some great pics like this one.
Date: 12/06/19 09:36 Re: Another of 4014 near Speer WY Author: jbwest What a great day of chasing, you got a whole series of keepers. Snow and steam work together so nicely, there was just enough snow to set the scene, you obviously knew the territory, and the results are a series of classic images. Thanks for posting the whole series.
JBWX Date: 12/06/19 13:09 Re: Another of 4014 near Speer WY Author: gregscholl Probably my favorite of all the winter 4014 shots. Reasons are many including covering the diesel, covering most of the support cars, sweeping curve, snowy hills in the background, some black smoke mixed with the steam, even lighting gives it a unique feeling, and no people or fans in the picture. I have to keep reminding myself this is not the Challenger 3985. It took me awhile years ago to learn the differences in the fronts. On the 3900's the UP plate is on the smokebox, whereas the 4014 is bare except for the handrail. In that respect I like the challenger better, but alas the Big Boy is actually running. Nice shot! OH and IOTD would be a good choice.

Very Fantastic! Any more Posts of your work at this moment before and after shots would be greatly appreciated! Did you or anyone capture any video of this day? You must send a copy of this to UP or Ed or the UP Steam Crew, not for fame or fortune, but just because Fogg is Smiling right now.😂 This is "Salt and Pepper" steam smoke to the max, something I never thought I would see again, in this modern age.
