With winter now taking a pretty good grip on many parts of the country, it is nice to look forward to what Spring can hold for in the coming months.  Scenes like this of Cab-Forwards working among the spring flowers in the Southern Pacific yards at Oakridge, Oregon give us hope that winter will not last forever.

In this bucolic setting we have no less than 5 Cab-Forwards in view.  2 are tucked inside the mallet shed, while 2 more are on parked under steam on the ready track.  Finally the 5 engine is hard at work as mid-train helper on this west-bound freight headed over Cascade Summit, or as the SP railroaders called it back in the the day, "The Hill".
