Steam & Excursion > Norfolk & Western 611 & 382 - The J & the M ReunitedDate: 02/06/20 06:57 Norfolk & Western 611 & 382 - The J & the M Reunited Author: tehachapi-dave Norfolk & Western 611, the only surviving J class locomotive was paired with a freight consist to recreate the final days of Norfolk & Western Steam. By the mid/;ate 1950's the J's had been relegated to lesser passenger trains and freight service, displaced by diesels. Joining the J was N&W M Class #475, masquerading as N&W 382, a regular locomotive on the N&W's Abingdon Branch made famous by O. Winston Link. Despite the dreary weather both locomotives put on a great show, and capped off the day with double-headed runbys. The event was organized by the Strasburg Railroad and Lerro Productions, Enjoy!

She was quite an impressive young lady, the panting on the photo line was almost as loud as the steamers. Her Oliver tractor is actually older than 611. 3 days in October that were most enjoyable.
