During the later years of steam on the SP, they no longer to bother with the tender lettering on cab forwards assigned to the more mountainous lines with lots of snow sheds & tunnels. After a relative short time in service, the tender lettering was pretty much obscured anyway. Besides, what other railroad on the North American Continent owned & used cab forwards anyway?
