Outstanding rescue by the Mt. Washington Cog RR

A hiker fell down Mt. Washington and landed in an all but inaccessible spot. Cog railway to the rescue.

I rode the "Skunk" a number of years ago and learned that at least at the time, the railroad was the main transportation access to several camps or small communities. I think this might also be the case for the Alaska Railroad.

More than once the DEA and local authorities used the Skunk for transportation.

I've been up there...cold, cloudy and desolate, even with nice sunny weather down below. People die on the side of Mt. Washington buried in the snow...

Isn't the Skunk line basically out of commission with the collapsed tunnel and all?

Yes but talking many years ago when all mail along the route went in and out by Skunk and the drug growers were
more homespun and knowing that no one would ever find them.
