The train sits at Silverton waiting for passengers to make the return trip to Durango in June of 1964.

Great photo, taken one year after my first ride on the line behind the same locomotive. I am partial to the phony stacks, as I saw them in the 70's while visiting. Fun fact, rode the Silverton on our Honeymoon in 1980, the last year of D&RGW ownership, and 476 pulled our train.
