Steam & Excursion > My Bad, UP 8444 was renumbered back to 844 in 1990!Date: 05/18/20 21:01 My Bad, UP 8444 was renumbered back to 844 in 1990! Author: RailRat My video files on my pc were incorrectly named (by yours truly) 8444 1990 in Idaho WB, and correctly named 844 in Idaho EB.
I had to actually watch my own footage to determine who the culprit was that horriblely mis-named her majesty, must have been them damn gremlins last night, last year! Thanks all for understanding, and not admonishing me for that mistake in my last posted video. I am going to post my footage of 844 In Idaho 1990, starting looking at it tonight, have work tomorrow, will post edit ed footage soon, watching 2017 version of Murder on The Orient Express right now.😂 Lots of Digital Graphic Imaging on the imagination train, but hoping for good story! Author: flash34 I thought I remembered reading that the renumbering took place in June of 1989 upon the return from the 50th birthday of the LAUPT and the run with 4449 up Cajon?

Renumbered to 844 AFTER the LAUPT celebration trip was over. Â We chased it to Omaha and back in July 1989, which was the first running with the renumbered back to 844. Â I had chased it hundreds of miles(1200 from Portland to Cheyenne), and seen it in LA and Cajon. Â Shortly after we got home either Stever or Bob called me to tell me it was getting the original number back and was making a trip for the opening of the new Harriman Dispatch Center in Omaha!!! Â 2 days of freights ensued from Cheyenne to Omaha, a day off, board of directors dinner train to Valley, NE, followed by 2 more days of freights back to Cheyenne. Â Some awesome stuff to chase as it was all company business, and almost no fans around. You can see preview clips on our website...go to Western Steam then look for Union Pacific Steam Vol 1 and Vol 2. Â Vol 2 is all of that trip, Vol 1 has 2 trips of 3985 and the 8444 Portland stuff in 89. Oh yes, you are right, June 8,1989. My apologies. 1990 was converting 3985 to oil. Somewhere in my world of slides I have photos of the ceremony. Bob Krieger Cheyenne, WY Edited 1 time(s).
