Steam & Excursion > Push-pull steam trains in England?Date: 05/27/20 11:50 Push-pull steam trains in England? Author: timz The book says the BR ex-GW 1400-class 0-4-2Ts
were "usually employed on motor (push and pull) trains." It says the 5815 was similar to the 1400 class "but not motor-fitted for push and pull working." Did they actually push passenger trains? What does "motor" refer to? Date: 05/27/20 11:55 Re: Push-pull steam trains in England? Author: HotWater timz Wrote:

Just from memory, I believe the Brits actually attempted to develop "cab cars" capable of controlling the throttle and reverse gear on the steam locomotive on the rear end. Author: andersonb109 I've seen them on heritage lines where the steam loco is in the center. A cab control at each end.

Author: pennengineer There were a few countries that used cab cars with steam power pushing from the other end of the train, notably Germany and France.
