Well we have at least 4 SP Steam videos.  One is called "SP Steam Fantrips".  It has SP 4443 fantrip, and some 4460 trips.
Another video, I forgot which off hand, has more 4460.  One has the last trip, maybe both videos, but different footage.

You might also consider "SP Classic Steam Volume 2" which we produced. While there are many scenes of real in-service operations, there are also several excursions from the 1950's including the famous 95 mph chase of a Daylight with actual sound. Also, a fan trip in Niles Canyon with Pacific 2475 on Jan 1, 1958). Of course, Volume 1 has some chasing of Cab Forwards and several other classes of SP steam but they are mostly actual in-service scenes. All have actual SP sound.

On a very related subject, my 5 year old basic, Blu-ray DVD player just bit the dust. To my surprise, DVD players are getting hard to find as streaming video has become so popular and seems to be replacing DVDs. I am determined that I will continue watching DVDs so identified the one I wanted (Sony) but also found that I could no longer simply walk into a store and buy it! Had to order it and today picked it up at the store. Best recorded picture quality I have ever seen. 

I am glad this happened now while DVD players are still available and DVDs are still being sold.

Have you searched YouTube? There must be dozens, if not hundreds of videos on YouTube, since the 1977 Amtrak Transcontinental Steam Excursion. Personally, one of my all time favorite videos was from Goodhart Productions; "Shasta Daylight".

I agree !  Shasta Daylight was the best of all the 4449 videos. Dave Goodheart did great videos. RIP, Dave.

I have been telling my customers they should buy Blu-Ray players.  Three reasons.  (1) I believe they are no longer making standard definition Players. (2) They also play the standard Definition DVD's, and a lot of folks do not know this, and (3) If there is a video available in regular standard Definition, and Blu-Ray, the Blu-Ray will look better every time.

So a Blu-Ray player is a good back-up for your older dvd's.   Also the Blu-Ray will up-convert and perhaps make the standard def look just a hair better, just like the old Play Station did.   Just realize this thread is about vintage SP stuff for the most part, and that was not shot in High Definition, so Blu-Ray is not really needed in that instance.  For modern HD shot material Blu-Ray is the way to go.

One bit of interesting information concerning Blu-Ray players; Sony has taken it upon themselves to install "blocking software" in the Blu-Ray plays, so that you can NOT play anything but high-end, commercially available Blu-Ray DVDs. I have a Sony BDP5350 player, and it will not play certain Blu-Ray DVDs that have been copied/produced by smaller companies.

My new (at least to me) Sony is model UBP-X700. I nervously placed an old DVD-R disc in for some old Super 8 movie conversions I had done 20 years ago. It played the disc just fine. But the movie was still full of grain. What can you expect when you blow up such a tiny piece of film onto a modern large screen television? Appears old Super 8 is best viewed on the small screen.

It is great that there were guys out filming steam with quality cameras before DVDs were invented.

Most of the video producers today make their videos as DVD-R.  Always be sure to check the manual of the Blu-Ray, or other Standard DVD player to make sure they accept that.  Years ago when the market was much hotter producers including myself opted to have our dvd's made at the factory when they made a glass plate and pressed out a fairly large number.  This was good to get the price down per piece, but in the long run you were spending more if you didn't sell very many.  Today virtually nobody does it this way, doing DVD-R and most do it in-house.  However we have a dedicated duplication company to do our dvd and color printing on the disc.
  As for grain it all depends on how good of a system the films are transfered on.  I have had some done that looked bad, others that looked grainy, and yet others that were great.  You need to check around online and experiment with a couple places to find the quality you desire at the cost you want to get it for.
