If you are talking about Face Book, look out - sometimes Fake News, I do not trust them at all and you see that so many prominent advertisers have stopped using the Face Book.

Trains mag is live streaming it right now, so I would say it's legit

Please ask yourself why anyone would bother to doctor a fake video of 1309.

Yes, when the track to the turntable is fixed.

They had a whistle blow with what is said to be an N&W hooter on 1309.  They began blowing it at 13:09 Eastern time.

If it is an N&W hooter, it is probably the same one that NKP 765 carried in 2015 in West Virginia, from a Y-6. C&O hooters would sound almost identical.

Congratulations to everyone that
Moved this project along ...

I saw both the 1308 & 1309 where they were in West Virginia...
Decades ago...

I was saddened by the butcher-job of asbestos removal done at the
B&O museum... in the 1990s..

However, Gary was just a “young Pup” as he helped Doyle & I ‘borrow’ ( for “loan” to the 759, after Steamtown, Vt. froze-up and busted 759’s original) the Worthington hot water pump from the 779, on display at Lima, Ohio..,

I couldn’t be more proud of the
Team that he has lead....

Also, congrats to the WM Scenic for
undertaking this wonderful task...

This loco will reward its owners handsomely for their perseverance
and their courage...

All of the recent rancor and abuse will be blown away — like clouds of steam from the cylinder cocks...
Into the mists of irrelevance..

Listen for the drama —- when pulling a massive train— as the engineer ‘shifts’ from ‘simple’ , to compound.... it will ‘blow your mind’..

However, for most everyday use,
It’ll stay in compound—- which means that at starting, it will a 2-0-6-2- until the pressure in the receiver pipe builds-up enough exhaust pressure from the rear (HP) cylinders..

Until that pressure builds, the HP pistons benefit from little, or no,
‘Back Pressure’ ( from the receiver pipe).. So, starting in compound has much more beneficial pressure delivered to the rear drivers..
They’ll be pulling harder— for a brief period, at starting..

Listen for the distinct exhaust blasts between operating Simple and Operating in Compound..

You will be amazed...

But, remember the volume of the ‘bark’ is dependent on the train’s mass, Not the whims of the engineer.. or how hard he tries to abuse the engine..

From the “old days”, this
steam blow is a crucial step...

When built, or heavily repaired or overhauled, so many different men
had worked on the engine... and being human, they had “set stuff down”.... sometimes in the big, open steam pipes...

When assembling the pistons and the valves into their bushings, everything was nice and clean and wiped....

Then, at testing date, with the first strong chugs— “the forgotten stuff” ( tools, nuts, bolts, bars, etc.) got blown by the steam flow and lodged in the valve ports, or fell into the cylinders... often with disastrous results..

Our grandfathers learned , the hard way, to blowout ALL the steam pipes BEFORE applying the spool valves...
That’s the reason behind the steam-blow testing...

Now you know!

I saw a comment that this was not the first fire-up.

Correct. They fired up the boiler for steam testing, long prior to re-installing the drivers and front engine running gear.

What is the access to the 1305 Steam Up coverage
I am a subscriber to TRAINS, but can't find anything on their webpage.

Maybe if you search for 1309, instead of 1305!

The steam came out of the high pressure cylinder when they opened the throttle, but very little came out of the low pressure cylinder.  I noticed that the main rod was not on.  Will the cover be put on the high pressure cylinders and then the throttle opened in order to clear the low pressure cylinders?  I did not see the low pressure cylinder blown out in the video.  If not, how will the low pressure cylinders go cleaned out?
