Texarkana , Tx

Texarkana was a hot spot in more ways than one.  Hot and very humid in the summer but still photographers gathered there to photo steam in its last days.  Seen here in August 1950 is jazzed up USRA 2-8-2 # 805 heading south from the yard I suspect with a crew anxious to get some wind in the cab.  And, we have another picture of a head brakeman riding the top of the tender rather than getting in the hot doghouse.

A final note:  T&P management in 1950 decided that headlights on all engines must be on in the day time and 805 is following that order.
