Steam & Excursion > You Just Don't See Many Photos Of This Branch, Especially Steam!Date: 08/07/20 07:49 You Just Don't See Many Photos Of This Branch, Especially Steam! Author: LoggerHogger The Condon Branch of the Union Pacific in Eastern Oregon, just did not have many railfans attention over it's years, either in the diesel era, and certainly not back in the steam era.
Fortunately for us, Emery J. Roberts made a trek down to the branch in August, 1947 and was able to catch UP #768 in action as she headed south out of Arlington, Oregon one day. The big 2-8-0 had plenty of power for this relatively flat branch line. This mush have been a lonely branch for the crews that worked it. Not many people or towns along the way. But you would know better Martin.
