Question about the Skookum
Author: wpamtk

Why don't the "Skookum's" Baldwin builders plates show a date? I'm guessing they're replicas, but still...

That was a strange reply...
The engine has Baldwin builders plates that show the construction number, but no date.
I thought it was rather odd.

Agreed. It was meant in humor, that is why I put the <G> after it, that means "grin" in computer lingo.

I would think that Martin ("LoggerHogger") would answer you question.

Again,  Martin can give you the proper answer, but I believe that it is because the locomotive was originally sold to the Little River Railroad in Tennessee and was found to be "too heavy" and was returned to Baldwin, where it set for some time before being sold and that when it was sold, Baldwin made up new plates with the same plate number, but left off the actual construction date.
