The location looks like Garnet.  Is the passenger station there something new?  (I.e., say within the last 20 years)

I don't know, but looks fairly modern, lots of parking spaces however, as well as a decent building (probably for A/C)
And bathrooms?

But maybe someone here on TO knows more.

For an unstaffed shelter, the Palm Springs station is pretty nice, although it's well outside of town (but then, so was SP's West Palm Springs station of yore). It's interesting in that it is on its own CTC-controlled siding off the main, no doubt paid for by Caltrans. Only Amtrak 1 & 2 stop there, but there have been hopes for additional service.
