Steam & Excursion > Steam on the plainsDate: 10/18/20 21:16 Steam on the plains Author: wpjones On October 17th we had an event for Haloween and had our ex CB&Q Browning Steam Locomotive crane in opperation for the second time this year. We brought it back to life last year after a 11 year rebuild of the boiler and replumbing of all steam piping and fasteners to meet Nebraska Boiler codes and get a new 2 year permit to opperate.
Hear are some photos of the event which was from 5 to 7 PM. Steve 1st photo crane facing west with still good light 2nd photo with clam open attemping to grab ballons with weights on them 3rd photo with lights on powered by 32 volt dynamo. There is also a fan to cool the opperator Date: 10/18/20 21:19 Re: Steam on the plains Author: wpjones two more photos of the swing engine and gearing that rotates the crane and also the mechanical lubricator for the swing engine.
Bye the way the crane is 100 years old this year. The "new" boiler was built in 1949 by Browning. It now has all new tubes and 9 new stay bolts. Steve Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 10/18/20 21:24 by wpjones. Date: 10/19/20 04:24 Re: Steam on the plains Author: refarkas Great historic restoration.
