Steam & Excursion > This Bridge Has Changed, But 75 Years Later It Still Sees Steam!Date: 10/25/20 03:42 This Bridge Has Changed, But 75 Years Later It Still Sees Steam! Author: LoggerHogger Approximately half way between Prineville, Oregon and Prineville Junction on the Oregon Trunk the City of Prineville Ry crosses the Crooked River on a low bridge. We see the bridge that carried trains back in the 1940's with this view of COPRy 0-6-0 #7 crossing the river one fine summer day.
Built by ALCO in 1907 for the SP&S Ry as their #2 she did not arrive on the 19-mile long COPRy until 1946. She was the last attempt to stave off diesels on the COPRy. Even though diesels started arriving on the COPRy in 1950 and steam was soon retired on the line, steam has returned since 1994 with the arrival of Mount Emily Shay #1. Here we see the big Shay crossing the Crooked River on the current bridge at that location. Martin Edited 3 time(s). Last edit at 10/25/20 03:52 by LoggerHogger.
