Steam & Excursion > October on the Boone & Scenic ValleyDate: 10/26/20 13:57 October on the Boone & Scenic Valley Author: CPengineer I passed through Boone, Iowa, heading home on Saturday. Boone & Scenic Valley had two trains out and running. FP9 6540 (ex-VIA) was on the Wolf Lunch Train, and NW-2 1003 was on the regular excursion to Fraser. The Sun stayed out for a little while and I managed to grab some shots of the lunch train heading for Wolf. The railroad had also planned to run downtown that day using South Shore 106, but it wasn't cooperating and they parked it.
1. CSS&SB 106 which operates over the B&SV's East End Traction Company between the station and downtown Boone. 2. 6540 pulling up to the depot to load passengers 3. Two trains at the Boone Depot. Date: 10/26/20 13:58 Re: October on the Boone & Scenic Valley Author: CPengineer 4. 6540 passing the speeder shed on the edge of town.
5. View of the lunch train passing Pilcher's Overhead west of Boone. 6. 1003 taking headroom near the station. They gave it to the Boone Rotary Club and they're fixing it up as a project. It now sits at the corner of Story Street and Highway 20 and is called the "Welcome Train." I have my opinions about this (and I'll keep them to myself).

Interesting fact most tourist confuse the Bass Point creek high bridge with UP's Kate Shelley high bridge. I had to almost regulary correct them when I was a volunteer there. As suggested, it crosses Bass Point Creek as the line parallels the Des Moines River.
