Steam & Excursion > The Mountaineer at Crawford NotchDate: 10/26/20 19:03 The Mountaineer at Crawford Notch Author: DavidP The Conway Scenic Railway's Mountaineer - formerly known as the Notch Train - prepares to leave New Hampshire's Crawford Notch station yesterday. GP38 252, half of the usual power duo along with GP35 216, suffered a prime mover failure earlier this year, so GP9 1757 is pinch hitting. Ex-B&M F7A 4266 has also filled in. With most of the foliage now gone, the Mountaineer's season is almost done.

Conway to ride with these nice people. The scenery is wonderful and so are the food and hospitality. My wife and I are particularly fond of a certain dome car there and we plan to visit next August or September as part of celebrating the 30th anniversary of our marriage and NE honeymoon. We rode Conway Scenic back then as well.
