SOO Line 1003 running in Wisconsin.

Isn't anybody out chasing/photographing the SOO Line 1003, 2-8-2, operating yesterday and today?  Supposed to be a charter to celebrate Trains Magazine 80th anniversary.

Not all of them. Some were run through just once to save time, while others got two or three repeats. My video footage looked all right, but I'm scared for the harsh wind noise in the audio.

These are three of my best from the day. I think it's safe to say (no irony intended) that it was a great time had by all.

The most time on a photo run is spent getting people off the train, on ballast.....not backing up and coming forward. So, it is best to get multiple run pasts in,  (you can change your angle),  then load up the passengers and move on to the next one.

This was a photo freight charter so the participants drove to each runby or run-through site.  1003 and the crew put on a fabulous show with excellent runbys.  I had not been on a 1003 charter since 2007 and it was great to see it under steam again.  And what steam!  Cold wind (and rain in the early morning, which stopped) throughout the day but we are all hardy people!

Thank you to the 1003 crew and Trains Magazine for putting this celebratory event on.

It was taken west of Randolph, WI near Cambria.  That's the UP former CNW bridge.  Unfortunately no trains on the Adams Sub were nearby.  It was wet there but the rain stopped.  It stayed windy and damp.  To bad it wasn't last week. It was sunny and 70.  OH WELL
