Steam & Excursion > SOO #1003 TRAINS 80th Anniversary CharterDate: 11/18/20 18:20 SOO #1003 TRAINS 80th Anniversary Charter Author: kschmidt626 Well had this event happened on Sunday November 8th it would have been sunny and 70. However it happened on Sunday November 15 and it was cloudy, rainy in the morning, windy and about 35-40 degrees. OH WELL that's Wisconsin. Well the #1003 did a photo charter as part of the 80th Anniversary of TRAINS magazine. The #1003 came out on Saturday November 14th for its annual outing for the Hartford WI Christmas Parade. After the festivities that #1003 ran tender first to Horicon, then Burnett for coal and then to Randolph, WI to spend the night to prepare for Sunday. When Sunday morning came it wasn't pleasant but steam warmed up everyone. About 50 fans were there. All properly masked and ready to shoot some photos. Here are a sample.
Shot #1 and #2 Just west of Randolph the UP (former CNW) crosses over the WSOR (former Milwaukee Road)tracks in the classic bridge Shot #3 #1003 departs Randolph WI eastbound towards Beaver Dam, WI Keith Schmidt Keith Schmidt Milwaukee, WI Date: 11/18/20 18:24 Re: SOO #1003 TRAINS 80th Anniversary Charter Author: kschmidt626 Then the #1003 headed to the "Duck Pond" as it is known. There is causeway between Beaver Dam Lake and a backwater. Great Photo with great run-bys.

As to the weather, while we all would prefer sunshine, the upside of the clouds was you could shoot either side and not worry about the light.
