Bill Deaver Tehachapi, CA Date: 01/06/21 21:41 Re: More NWP IDs Author: JDLX Pretty sure neither of these are NWP. Looks to be somewhere on the San Jose to San Francisco line, but I'll leave it up to others to identify where.
Jeff Moore Elko, NV Date: 01/06/21 22:30 Re: More NWP IDs Author: TCnR The wide platform and overview of the town makes the first one look like Palo Alto. Don't know about the second one except it looks like mid-peninsula, north of San Mateo but south of San Bruno. Similar trees line that section but are usually eucalyptus trees.
Doesn't look anything like NWP. Nice find, thanks for sharing. Date: 01/07/21 08:33 Re: More NWP IDs Author: goldcoast The first photo is Palo Alto.
Date: 01/07/21 08:37 Re: More NWP IDs Author: timz Second one has to be Burlingame--
nowhere else has trees that tall next to the track. Like he said, first one is Palo Alto. Did Mohawk sell gas in California? Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/07/21 08:39 by timz. Date: 01/07/21 09:43 Re: More NWP IDs Author: TCnR Mohawk gasoline was very common in California until the 70's. It looks like a Mohawk sign to me as well.
but looking at some google images I could be wrong: https://www.google.com/search?q=mohawk+gasoline+sign&tbm=isch&ved=2ahUKEwiSv5br2YvuAhVJ66wKHSgOCuwQ2-cCegQIABAA&oq=mohawk+gasoline+sign&gs_lcp=CgNpbWcQAzICCABQ3xxYwyJg6CZoAHAAeACAAZYBiAGuBJIBAzAuNJgBAKABAaoBC2d3cy13aXotaW1nwAEB&sclient=img&ei=t_r3X9KHK8nWswWonKjgDg&bih=497&biw=1007&client=firefox-b-1-d&hl=en-US https://www.google.com/search?source=univ&tbm=isch&q=pontiac+dealer+sign&client=firefox-b-1-d&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwigsJ3W2YvuAhUFw1kKHcdvBRMQjJkEegQIARAB&biw=1024&bih=497 Edited 1 time(s). If so, then Fairoaks Lane is the grade crossing just past the (steam?) locomotive.

Not sure what brands it was over the years. Used to go there with Dad when Joe Rehm was running the place doing oil changes and light repairs. Later years the gas pumps were gone but Dee Hileman, an old school cigar chomping hot rodder ran his auto repair business there. He was still there in the 80's. I don't know what is there now.

More likely the mail train, though i don't recall ever seeing it behind E units. AA Stanford White Carmel Valley, CA Date: 01/08/21 08:50 Re: Is photo #2 in Atherton? Author: timz Think the two mains at Atherton are still spaced
wider than the mains in pic 2. Someone go and take a look. (No need to go -- https://goo.gl/maps/NAU5VKduy12GyStb9 In any case, don't think Atherton had a eucalyptus wall like that to the west. No place did, except Burlingame. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/08/21 08:57 by timz. |
