As always thanks in advance for the info, hoping to have this movie done soon!FIRST SCENE.This is somewhere on the Peninsula.  The Low Wig-Wag might be a clue where this is.   SECOND SCENE.A Peninsula scene with GP9... It's good-old 5623  The seems to be a gully in the background.

I don't know squat about SP operations, but it appears they are commuter trains around SF.

From Monterey, although it did serve the commute crown between San Jose and SF.

The first photo is a eastbound at about MP 17 in San Mateo, Calif about to cross Villa Terrace Ave (location of the wig wag) and the second photo was taken a little over a block south with the westbound Del Monte crossing over the East Poplar Ave overpass.  TomE

I lived in an apartment in the building under construction shown in the Del Monte photo.

In the first photo, note that the engine is displaying white class lights, which means the train is an exta and not a regular commuter run.

This might be a "Rooters' Special" going to the U. C. Berkeley - Stanford University football game at Stanford.
