With Scenery Like This You Didn't Even Miss The Steam Locomotive!
Author: LoggerHogger

While most railfans who came across a weathered water tank would have preferred to have a steam powered train next to it taking on water over any gas-mechanical rail car, this may be an exception.

The date is 1946 and Rio Grande Southern Goose #3 has paused for photos by the water tank at Trout Lake high in the Colorado Rockies. While a steam locomotive would also have been nice for this scene, the Goose fills the bill quite nicely.

Trout lake area and the red mountains behind it are a treasure of beauty.

I'm surprised someone hasn't ask the question: "Are they stopping to fill the radiator?"
