Steam & Excursion > A Heisler With a Bumper WinchDate: 02/18/21 08:05 A Heisler With a Bumper Winch Author: MacBeau Russel Lee was not specific about what lumber company in Baker County, Oregon he was photographing back in May 1941, but that aftermarket accessory out front suggests it is Stoddard Lumber Company Number 4, a 50 ton, 36" gauge built in 1922. Stoddard Number 5, a 36 ton version built in 1917 also had this same feature, so it will fall to Martin or one of the truly knowledgeable to confirm which it might be. Stoddard is reported to have had 60 miles of railroad between 1914 and 1943 when operations ended.
Be of good cheer, —Mac www.lowellamrine.com Date: 02/18/21 08:25 Re: A Heisler With a Bumper Winch Author: LoggerHogger This is Stoddard Lumber Heisler #4 with a steam winch on her pilot for loading her own log cars. Al Farrow took the photo in 1941.

I looked him up and discovered he was an FSA photogrpher.
