As a young man long ago (some time in the early 80's) when I lived in Santa Fe, I cross-country skied from Cumbres to the second crossing one winter. Also had fun skiing among the cars in the Cumbres yard one year. In those years we had plenty of snow and snowmobiles were still comparably rare. These days their noise and exhaust smell do spoil an otherwise pristine and quiet winter landscape, but at my age these days I would be a user if I lived in the area.
