Often when a CMO for a steam railroad decided to move a locomotive's headlight from up on top of the smokebox down to the center of the smokebox door, that spelled the end for the spot plate that originally occupied that location.  That was not the case at Simpson Timber when they moved the headlight on their Baldwin 2-8-2 #5.

We see in this 1940 photo taken out in the woods above Shelton, Washington that the dynamo now occupies the former headlight mounting bracket on the top of the smokebox.  This was done at the same time the headlight was moved to the center of the smokebox door.  Rather than simply discard the spot plate that used to be in that location, the CMO thought enough of mounting the "5 spot plate on the bracket for the new headlight location.

Problem solved - logger style!
