Steam & Excursion > Skookum performs for the Photogs

Last Saturday (May 1) Niles Canyon Railroad hosted a photographers special with 2-4-4-2 "Skookum" to benefit the SP1744 restoration efforts.  I had seen the Skookum at Garibaldi when it was first under steam, and was anxious to see it actually pull a train.  NCR did a good job, the weather was reasonably cooperative, and as far as I could tell everyone had a good time.  Most folks were masked and doing a reasonable job of social distancing (plenty of extra seats on the chase train).  Here are three pix hot off the press, so to speak: (1) under the UP, (2) approaching Niles, and (3) the last runby just west of Sunol station.  More pix can be found here:

Very nice! The Niles pic is the best I've scene of that area.

JB West, I did the trip in December! Kind of wanted to do this one, too, but got in off a late #5 the night before and just wanted to sleep in!
