While there are plenty of photos of the California-Western Railroad on their line between Ft. Bragg and Willits, California, and even a few on the Tenmile Branch, there are few if any that depict the parent company, Union Lumber Company's log pond at the mill in Ft. Bragg.  This, after all was the destination for any of the log trains coming off the Tenmile Branch inthe 1940's.

Fortunately, in June, 1949, one intrepid photographer managed to get over to the log pond one day to catch C-W 2-6-2 #22 as she arrived with her log train at the log pond in preparation for dumping her loads into the pond.  Thanks to him, we now known how this scene looked.

I do not think that mill is in Willits.

That's because it's in Ft. Bragg.
