SP 18 - DSNG 493 Doubleheader

On June 14th, SP 18 doublehead with the DSNG 493 on the 9:00 AM steam train to Silverton. I caught the SP 18 running light from Durango to Hermosa, and the doubleheader departing Hermosa and at Shelona lake. Attatched is the best photo out of the bunch, along with the video clips. Make sure to watch the final clip in the video, it has great stack talk.

They've been running 15 cars, that's a big train for the hill across the road from the Hermosa tank.

What sort of whistle on the SP 18, exactly?  6" diameter, Crosby 3 chime or something else?

And what does the 493 carry, exactly?

Southern Pacific issue short bell 5-chime, aka "Desert Chime" on the 18.

I think the 493 currently has a 6" Crosby 3-chime.

I could not hear the air compressor exhaust from the #18.  Was there work done in California or is iot just the recording and the presence of another aircompressor working in the 493?

Great photo and loved that video.  I used to see 18 at the park in Lone Pine on family fishing trips and wondered if it would ever run again.  Hopefully I'll get to see it in operation one of these years.
