One of the best 4014 shots I've seen of the trip.

Just curious:   after such a long trip when the engine returns to Cheyenne how many days off with the crew have?

Lots of work ahead to properly prepare her for storage.
Emptying the boiler and drying it out is most important,

As the renowned metallurgist Neil Young has often commented:
Rust Never Sleeps.

This is the BEST photo I've seen of the Big Boy in weeks.  I had actually stopped looking a new picture because they look like a dead engine being pushed into a park.   Finally a decent shot of the oil burner!

If it is done for the year, the usual winterization.  I'm sure there is a worklist of things to address.
First thing would be a thorough boiler wash and inspection.
As my late best buddy once said:  Eating, sleeping and time off are signs of weakness" in the steam world.
