Can anyone add to Trains Magazine list of active steam?
Author: PlyWoody

I have two suggestion that are 2' gauge, This Davenport was put in service this past March 2021 and operated on a large orchard railroad in central California.  In Lincoln, NH there is a Two foot gauge German steam locomotive that operates at the LOON MOUNTAIN Ski resort between two ski lifts.  Near by at North Woodstock are three standard gauge logging engines that haul passenger trains in the Clark's Trading Post on the White Mountain Central RR.  A  EB&L Climax #6 with a new boiler, a Heisler #4 that came from Marlington, WV. and a Porter 0-4-0st Number 1.  All are expected to operate in 2022.
My photos of Clark's locomotives were too big to attach here.

What else did the list miss?

How about Southern #401 at Monticello, Illinois, which should be back from its 1472 this year.

Where is the list!
I haven't seen it, so don't know.  However there is an 0-6-0 running on the Hocking Valley Railroad in Nelsonville, OHIO.  It may or may not be on the list.  I think is running 2 weekends in January!!

The list is page 14 and 15 of the February 2022 Trains Magazine. It was compiled in the fall of 2021 of locomotives operating at that time. It did not predict what might be running in 2022.

I did not see SP #18, the oil burning 4-6-0 narrow gauge that was used by the D&S.  Might they use it some in 2022?

18 will run in 2022 and there's always talk of another trip to Laws. The new extension on the museum
grounds will be finished giving the 18 a bit more room to roam.

I doubt the D&S will use it in 2022.  It was sent back I believe.  Also they have plenty of oil-burning steam and diesels now at Durango.
Nice engine though!

Good point, I didn't take it as if D&S would use it as it's been widely reported to be back home
in Independence.

SP 18 is in the list in California.  The 401 should be included, based on the fact they show New Jersey's SMS Co. 0-6-0 #9 which has no real timetable for being put to work after a long rebuild.  Note that the Mt. Washington Cog is adding a third locomotive for 2022.  I guess TO is no longer dependable place for steam news as several days ago there was a major fire in the cab of Conway Sceinc RR #7470 while it was in the engine house.  Trains had the number wrong. The fire damaged a spring which caused the steam whistle to sing, and that attracted the fire department which managed to save the 1874 round house.  Prior to that, two steam specials occasion trains were cancelled because of tender truck defects which will have to be switched out with some coal hopper trucks till the defects can be repaired, found by the FRA inspection and not the railroad management.

The Davenport in California was probably left off the list because it's a private railroad and not open to the public.  The Loon Mountain, NH, engine should have been included as it did some limited running in 2021.  As for the engines at Clark's Bears (White Mountain Central) nothing ran in 2021 but the Climax has a good chance of running in 2022.  The Heisler is no longer operational.  I am not sure about the Porter but I know that it hasn't steamed in a few years, if not longer.

The Davenpport operated on a public train ride for anyone who pays the fare but what different does it make if it is all on private orchard property.  Most of these engines in the list are on private company property.  Sad to learn the virus cut the operation of the Clark's Trading Post and the Climax had not operated.  Big changes since Dave Clark retired and they need a new master mechanic.  Thanks for the up date.

Why would
30" gage Grove Farm operation with the 1887 built "Paulo" at Lihue, Kauai, not be in the list?

Yes, but I specifically mentioned the D&S, because the one poster specifically asked if it would run there again.  We're on the same page with info!
