WMSR question.
Author: howeld

How long is the layover in Frostburg on the Frostburg Flyer departures?

Is there anything in the town to entertain children?

I was surprised not to see a schedule or the information in the FAQ (assuming I didn’t overlook it).

The train departs Frostburg back to Cumberland at 2:30 pm.

Check out the City of Frostburg's website.  https://www.frostburgcity.org/parksrec/page/city-events

Sorry, I can't offer more help than that.

It's a bit of a walk to the town center from the station. There are several restaurants on the main street.

Across the street from the Frostburg Depot and next to the turntable is the Thrasher Carriage Museum.  Don't know if you think that would be of interest to the children with you.  Here's a link to the museum's website:

Frostburg has a public library which may have a children's programming.  It is open five days per week (closed Fridays and Sundays).

You may want to look at Google Maps for Frostburg to see what restaurants and other businesses are along Main Street.

Don't know if this would be a concern, but walking from the Frostburg Depot to the Main Street requires going up a set of stairs or walking up a steep sidewalk along Depot Street.

There was and hopefully still is a shuttle bus that takes passengers from the Depot to Main Street. ...

By the time you get off the train and walk up to the main street and go to a restaurant, most of your layover time is used up.  There are many different stores along the main street.  One thing for sure, especially for ladies, wear comfortable shoes, not necessarily sneakers, but do not wear any high heels or your feet will be sore as it is a good climb up to main street.
