Western Pacific Steam Lives!
Author: zephyrus

After about 16 years of restoration and a couple of test steam ups, Western Pacific 0-6-0 165 made her public debut at the Western Pacific Railroad Museum on May 15, 2022.  In attendance were guests of the 2022 Western Pacific Railroad Historical Convention and volunteer staff of the WPRM / FRRS.  The engine performed beautifully.

Here are some photos and video.

Very nice. I look forward to seeing it with all the lagging on the boiler.

I bought a tube for that engine, just thought it was the coolest thing to be able to donate for a specific piece,
And the wonder of that in a diesel museum is pretty neat, wish Rod were still around to see it.

That is a much better sight (and sound) than when she used to be stuffed and mounted in the Pleasanton fairgrounds!

What a noisy switcher! Someone's gonna have fun with that little loco.

Thanks for that video. It explains more that 1000 still photos.

Congratulations to all involved with restoration of this WP Steam Engine, And I agree, great to see a WP Steam Engine Restored to operating condition, Wow on that 16 years!
Here's a Black and white scan of her from (1930's)?, courtesy of Bob Larson, who gave me several B&W photos of WP Steam back about 1992 or so, when he was engineering between Portola and Winnemucca:

Is she the only operable WP steam engine at the moment?
