3985 in the Steam Shop
Author: A-1

Over there on that darn Facebook site, Ed Dickens just posted in the Official UP Steam Club group a few pictures of 3985 in the main shop with 4014 in the background and Mary Nystrom in for a visit. Maybe it's not newsworthy here but I thought it was neat.

I think it is A-1, and altho I've only met her twice she was nice to me the first time, and seemed to remember me the second time. I very much enjoyed her and her late husband.

Cheers, Dave

Gosh it looks stripped, not even any number boards. I imagine they are putting all that stuff back on it and mate a tender with it?
Good to see Mary, it's been 12 years since I've talked to her.

They are preparing it to mate the 4014 tender to it and get it ready for its journey to Silvis, Illinois for a grand restoration project and a return to operation.

As in hiding things that could potentially be fairly easily stolen?  Seems smart to me.

Good grief it was stored in the round house not outside, why not strip the 5511 if that were the concern?

Why not read what was posted by Bob K think that says it all so your post was not needed.  But hey I understand as it TO and the need to gripe is normal.

Oh I see, you are saying they took all that stuff off to transport it. Ok that makes sense.
