On Sunday, 6/12/22, Iowa Interstay 6988 ran a round trip from Silvis to Bureau Junction, IL on IAIS's former Rock Island mainline. I picked up a friend at Rochelle and we headed to Silvis arriving about 8 am. We had plenty of time to photo both the eastbound CBBI (Council Bluffs IA to Blue Island IL) train and its westbound counterpart BICB as they worked their trains on opposite ends of the yard.

Fiest scene in the video is the Geneseo depot on the eastbound leg lf the trip. Next is Atkinson. After an <ahem> "interesting " drive east on US 6, Sheffield is the next runby location. We opted to skip ahead to Bureau Junction where we caught 6988's arrival and after a lengthy lunch break, it's departure.

Our finall scene is at Mineral on the westbound return trip.

Overall it was a great day and hopefully this was a hint of future cooperation between the IAIS and the Steam Heritage group.

I had never noticed the spoked tender wheels before. The flag of the Ukraine is a good touch. Did they convert it to right hand drive (engineer on the right side)? That's the best looking Chinese product I think I've seen.

Great video, thanks for sharing! That whistle sounds like a B&O 6-chime to me.

Very nice video.  It sure is nice to see steam pulling some freight once in a while.  After all isn't that what most of them did when steam was king?

To be fair, they've been cooperating ever since the QJs debuted at Riverway 2006.

Excellent video, BTW!

I think that's a reproduction GTW 6-chime that is one of several reproduction whistles they use.
