RailRoading Heritage of Midwest America has started a fundraiser to get #3985 back into steam!

RRHMA 3985 

This is an excellent time to donate with the double matching program, turn your 1 dollar in to 3 or your 1000 in to 3000. I have started donating every week, I encourage anyone that is able to donate as well.

Just checked my IRA, bad time for a fund raiser!

Wouldn't need a fundraiser if the engine wasn't trashed. With inflation and a bad economy,  can't justify giving money away. Just my opinion.

If you need to pull money out of an IRA to make a donation, you need to find a different financial planner.

He didn't say he was going  to pull money out of his IRA. He checked his IRA and see's the hit his IRA has taken. Need to read and understand his post, not go flying off.

Forgot about the superheater tubes taken out and allowed to rot outside? The oil burner mechanism as well as the tender was donated to the 4014, too. Regardless of its current condition, restoring them would require some work (and donation), wouldn't you say?

To paraphrase you, need to read and understand the issues (and control your bias), not go flying off.

I think there is a boss guy in Cheyenne that's glad the last Challenger is off the property....

IRAs:
Its unrealistic to expect that stock price indexes will aways go up in a straight line.
You want to have a supply of cash ready to invest at lower prices, when the dips 
come along.  Smile!

Prices will NOT stay down.  You also want to invest in market dips by adding gradual 
purchases as it goes lower ---- you can't pick a number and say 'this is the bottom!",
then try to move your money....you'll be priced-out since others have open orders , ahead of your
order...

It's the total number of shares you own....your goal is to accumulate shares in good companies.
You're not gonna need the retirement money, right now --- so take advantage of good stock 
at lower prices.. Accumulate more shares 😃

The #3985 is getting the oil tender back from #4014. Yes, it will need new superheater tubes and whatever else was taken off ti put on 4014 so it could “putt” around the system.

If the engine and it's components were cared for and not neglected or used as a parts source for the 4014, it would be in far better shape than it is now. I do a bias for 3985. If my opinion is construed as flying off, then clear the runway, I'm ready for take off.

          I am 72 and still needing to work but might be convinced to donate if first and foremost, the person who trashed the 3985 was placed permanently in the unemployable section with no severence ( we all know who he be ) . Otherwise I feel like I would be getting taken twice, first when it was trashed and the many who would pay to get it up again. U.P. knew what was going on and there was no reason for it.

You're actually dead on, I bet if 3985 got her 1472 without the crap that happened, she's be running like a champ in a heartbeat, can't wait to see her back in a few years!

They should guarantee cab rides at a certain donation level to help boost donations.
