Great Western Steam Up - V&T display engines on the move
Author: SPJoe

Virginia & Truckee # 12 'Genoa' (1873 Baldwin 4-4-0) saw daylight this morning for the first time in 40 years as the CSRM prepares to loan it and the Virginia & Truckee # 21 'J. W. Bowker' (1875 Baldwin 2-4-0) to the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City NV for the Anniversary celebration of the 150th year of the completion of the V&T. Listed as the 'Great Western Steam Up' 7/1/22-7/4/22 on the Museum site. The engines will be moved by truck and the CSRM plans to have future live video of the move. The picture is a screen capture from this morning's move of the side of the locomotive that has been facing the wall all these years while displayed at CSRM.

What a shame that they will be returned!

They'll be on loan to NSRM for 2 years, and in return, the Dayton (V&T 18), car 17 (both of which were built in Sacramento, with the Dayton being the only surviving non-Central Pacific locomotive that was built in Sac), and the commissioner's car will be loaned to CSRM (also for 2 years) following the event in Carson City.
