The Oregon Rail Heritage Center in Portland, Oregon turntable pit is nearing excavation completion by the Rick Franklin Company crews....next step is Omega Morgan and the building of the pit and installation of the rehab'd turntable. This picture taken June 20th. Note, that although we have had a record breaking spring rail fall, the pit remains dry as the former Inman-Paulson Lumber Company sawdust fill drains well. Hood sleeper/lounge, etc....time will tell. as noted earlier, the line around the east side of the building to the turntable makes a lot of sense. Arlen

Moving a locomotive or other piece of rolling stock thru the enginhouse every time the turntable needs to be accessed would be not only time consuming it would be almost impossible. I'll bet that there will be a third way to access the TT. A connection to the yard trracks is a definite possibility. The whole project is going to a PR bonanza for the ORHC.
