Ugly FP40 going away at Patty Baker Rd. An added Father's Day attraction was this WWII air show at the local airstrip. Well-attended, and hopefully there will be more... All photos/video by Warren W. Got a few, unfortunately only 2 planes were available for rides on Sunday, vs. 4 on Saturday. The local Maryland State Police Medevac chopper always is an attention-getter. The B-25 gets fueled while the biplane trainer takes off. B-25 Mitchell bomber "Panchito" prepares for takeoff. Nice also to see Amber Trail and Overland Trail in the consist. Conductor Bill and his family must be having a fine time.

I was there Friday for both trips, and the Saturday trip. Leaving for the Friday night trip, some guy is checking into our motel with airplanes all over his shirt. He was with the Commemorative AF, and told me about the planes. I had shot a B-17 in Louisville the weekend before, and my old body can only handle so much due to mobility, so I passed. I have seen Panchito several times in the mid-west. Nice shot a Patty Baker, on the sunny side. I shot the other side on the evening trip. If not for being delayed before Helmstetters with the tree on the track I would have had sunlight at Patty Baker. Still a great thrash up the hill. I shot GTW 6325 on the Ohio Central in 2003, and they had a T-1 whistle. I wonder if this is the same one. I like the PRR whistles for their mellow tone, but feel the N&W hooter is more appropriate for N&W as well as C&O which had hooters. Both sound good on 1309. I may post a video clip in the future. Still recovering!!!! Greg Scholl http://www.gregschollvideo.com Date: 06/21/22 06:24 Re: First look at WMSR #1309 w/ PRR T-1 whistle Author: Frisco1522 I always loved Pennsy passenger whistles. They could have a mournful sound at times and were always pleasant to hear.

I agree 110%, I love that type of whistle in comparison to the "Hooter" that the engine was using. It's a great whistle and very reminiscent of the whistle used on #100 at the Whitewater Valley in Indiana back in the 80s.
