Saw this Trains Magazine article this morning that the Friends of the 261 organized and ran a 8-car private car train from Minneapolis to Chicago yesterday for an investment firm.

Consist included:
-Amtrak P42 55
-Oliver Hazard Perry
-Three baggage/support cars (one of them was PPCX 800751)
-Former Southern Railway pullman observation car PPCX 800034
-MKT 401 heavyweight observation car
-Dome-sleeper Belle Vista

Amtrak makes money every time they make any special moves including special private cars being moved.  Their leadership should understand this; however with some of the people who are in charge, they don't understand.

How do you know that to be factual statement? I am not arguing with you but simply interested in the what, how, and why of your statement. It would seem that if it was very profitable they would certainly make more of these special moves to produce more badly needed revenue.
