Long Before
Author: espee4ever

The parents of the man on the footboards had yet to be born that day back in 1915 when this 40-ton narrow gauge Heisler came to the W. H. Eccles Lumber Company. One hundred and seven years later it holds the honor of being the last wood-burning Heisler, framed on the 23rd of last month on The Sumpter Valley Railroad.

Rode that engine on a few hundred feet of track about 50 years ago, man time flies.

I'm more familiar with West Side No 3, now No. 2 operating at Felton, CA on the Roaring Camp and Big Trees Narrow Gauge Railroad.

The Eccles engine is the "modern" version of West Side 3.
