A Couple of Occasions With 425
Author: TheNavigator

On October 1, 1995, RBM&N/R&N 4-6-2 #425 headed a round trip excursion between Leesport (?), PA, and Ashland.  Luckily, I was on vacation in the area at the time and was able to shoot 425 that morning before having to catch up with my itinerary.  Just shy of 13 years later, after she received her facelift and what appears to be a more brilliant blue paint job, I met up with 425 once again on a 6/21/08 Port Clinton to Jim Thorpe round trip.  Kudos to R&N for keeping 425 alive for all these years and for recently bringing 2102 back to life.

Thanks for looking back,
GK

A beautiful set of pics.  The 425 looked great.  Sometimes people don't realize the spit and polish given the Class 1 steamers of the past.  My grandfather's 4-4-0 and my uncle's 4-6-2's shone like the beautiful 425.

I'm looking forward to coverage of the doubleheader of these two units in the Iron Horse Rambles next week. Will you be there?

The Wabash had some blue pacifics, but they were darker than that, though some modelers paint them too light.

Very nice!

Next Saturday is certainly going to be a jam packed fun filled day along the RBM&N. It sounds like a good number of the people driving on roads like 61, 895, and 209 will be chasing the 2102 plus 425 combo. I will be following it with a friend from Muhlenburg Twp to Nesquehoning and back. We aren't driving into Jim Thorpe bc it will be super crowded there. Plus it won't be easy to find parking there on 8/13. I'll be riding the RBM&N excursion train on 9/3.
