I hadn't seen anyone post this yet, but apparently, the Mt. Rainier Scenic RR - which shut down in early 2020 at the start of the pandemic - could be coming back to life! The Western Forest Industries Museum has reformed and repurchased all assets from American Heritage Railways, who owned and operated the railroad from about 2016 to the shutdown; and they "will be undertaking a phased reopening plan."

Uh, this is currently old news and we're all still waiting. The nearby mayor (as I remember) has big plans and everyone
has big plans and I have big doubts about Mr. Harper just giving the assets back. Hope something real comes out of this,
really liked the museum and the ride and hoping for the best.

would you elaborate a bit?  Clearly there is a story here of which I am unaware.

Please do elaborate, from the financial issues at the D&S I wouldn't think a write off of the size of
the Mt. Rainer property would be of value. I'm sure Mr. Hansen has been involved and I'd love to
hear his words on the progress of things.

Mr. Hansen isn't always involved in everything. 

That being said, yes, MRSR is returning in a phased approach. Very exciting to see it return. There will be A LOT of work to do to get everything ready to go. 

Rail bikes first from Park Jct to Mineral, track work/brushwork, and a new station at Eatonville. Excursions will be from Eatonville to Mineral when the line returns.

Sorry that was something that came back in the early 70s from some university in CA prof. Knew the U if W prof who was upset about them saying it was going to blow soon. Get those tin hats out lol.

We all had a bit of a scare because what very much looked like venting out of the upper Northern dome, turned out to be a funky cloud later that was rotating and looked like it was venting due to high winds. It freaked a solid majority of us out.

In the town Enumclaw, residents fled in their nightclothes...

Eatonville to Mineral is about 20 miles on the railroad. My cautiously optimistic vision of track rehab and such is a 15 mph speed limit (minus slow orders) making for a 1.5-2 hour one way trip.
