Steam & Excursion > Frisco 1630 at IRM

Originally planning to visit MRM, a last-minute work trip took me a bit further north to IRM for the Museum Showcase Weekend. Here are a few pics, mainly focused on Frisco 1630.

1. 1630 heads east towards Johnson Siding.

2. 1630 stretches its legs pulling a photo freight to begin the day. 

3. CBQ 9911a leads the Nebraska Zephyr past 1630 at Johnson Siding.

4. A crowd gathers around Shay 5 following its run.

5. The crew of 1630 prepares the engine for evening operation as coal is loaded into the tender.

6. 1630 waits for the go ahead. In the distance, the Nebraska Zephyr returns to the station, illuminating the scene.

Photo #1 could have been shot on any hot summer day in September of 1932. Well... you could claim that photo was shot on the 18th of September of 1932, and if there was such a thing as "color film" back then, I would probably believe it. Beautiful composition of a beautiful steam-powered train, Dak!
