Here's another Shay in the water photo.  This is a dupe slide I got about 60 years ago from Paul Garde,  who ran a dupe slide business "35 Slides" in Colorado.   Only info is 'Elk River - 12' on the slide mount.  I looked it up and have discovered it was the Elk River Coal & Lumber Co, in West Virginia.   It operated in the area where the BC&G was located.

How does the hogger know that the roadbed hasn't been washed out from under the tracks?  You'd be well advised to stop before entering water rushing over the tracks.

Same applies to railfanning with a normal car,   as I found out once when driving into Sullivans Curve.   Was interesting getting the AAA in there...
